"AMAZING!!! Love this place! 5 of 5 stars NEW Review. My husband and I decided to head to Big Bear for a long relaxing getaway. We came across the Golden Bear Cottages and had to give them a try. Not only were the grounds exactly what we were looking for, but the family and staff running it were amazing. We immediately felt at home and welcomed with open arms. The cabins were clean and very well taken care of as well as the grounds. Their prime location is just minutes from everything to do and the family running the place treated us just like there own family. We can't wait to visit again soon. "Best Review Comments: Loved historic cabin 5, felt like we were a part of Big Bear history in the main room having original planking from1907. The kitchen and bathrooms were added on to the main cabin after hot water and electricity were invented. Very fun and good experience for kids to learn to appreciate all that had to be accomplished by horse and wagon."

"Comments from a very satisfied church group: Staying at Golden Bear Cottages was a great experience for our huge church group that took over the whole resort campus. Don, Karen, Lisa and Lenny were incredibly hospitable and helpful and the grounds were in great condition. "Our review: Last week was our first time staying at the Golden Bear Cottages and I must say it was very relaxing and peaceful. Think of it as of a home away from home with everything you could possibly need for comfort. "I love Golden Bear! Each time we stay its a fun and refreshing time for our family! We will be moving to the East coast this Summer and will really miss joining you up in beautiful Big Bear Lake. I thank you for providing the binder in each cabin on the things you can do around the resort. I LOVE that you include a daily scripture reading in it!!!!! There are two things about cabin 6 in particular that I love. The light on the ceiling fan gives just enough light and circulation. Also, there was a new heater that provided more heat in the bedroom. One last thing, I think it is great there were some extra kitchen supplies in the office that guests could sign out when using. Cookie sheets and a rolling pin for instance. We will try to come back in the Spring because it would be a beautiful way to say goodbye California. God bless you all."

"Just before Memorial Day weekend, this beautiful resort town received a little of what it was lacking during the winter months — snow. Thunderstorms in San Bernardino Mountains dropped some needed water on the mountain region with cool temperatures at higher elevations, like Big Bear Lake, allowed the rain to form into snow, according to a local meteorologist. “It’s a mixture of rain and just a few inches of snow,” - I would say from about 12:45 p.m. until about 4 p.m., and then it cleared up,” said Lisa Duran, manager of the Golden Bear Cottages in Big Bear Lake. Another storm should form late Thursday and yet another may dampen the region again on Friday, said Jimmy Taeger, a meteorologist at the San Diego office of the National Weather Service. “It definitely won’t be as widespread as today,” Taeger said of Friday’s potential storms. He said the mountains may have received anywhere from a an inch to three inches of snow Thursday. Snow levels at the mountain resorts were about average this past winter."

"We went for the weekend and book a cottage at last minute to get away from the busy city life...What a pleasant surprise!!! The cottage was very clean, and comfy, very well equipped and just at home experience without any worries. It was a nice way to have a rustic private cottage and experience the morning sun on our private porch and the feel of opening old windows with cute locks.... If you plan going there for a romantic getaway ask for Honey Pot 5....we love the service and the whole experience. I am sure all other cottages are nice for family time or just getting away for vacation. We give Golden Bear Cottages resort our highest rating and will be back soon."

"My family and I recently visited Big Bear on our annual family vacation. Being on a budget of course I was looking around for the best deals and came across Golden Bear Cottages. I have stayed at other locations in the past but given that my regular place was way above budget I decided to go against the grain and try something different. Well in just a few words I'm glad I did. The staff, the grounds, the cabin all exceeded my expectations. My kids loved everything about the cabin, the amenities such as pool, spa, playground, etc. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Just our time spent in Big Bear was awesome all in part of being made to feel as part of their family. Despite some negative reviews, which now I can't understand, I'm glad I stayed here with my family. I will definitely be sharing these cabins with family and friends. Already planning next year's trip. Thank you for a wonderful experience. God bless."

Lisa has ALWAYS been accomodatating to me and ALWAYS remembers me by name. I really appreciate that. I'm remembered and just not another customer. Her dad Don engaged me in conversation and took the time to appreciate me too. I will always return to their cabins. Not just a business. a real Family feeling. "There is so much I can say about the Golden Bear Cottages in Big Bear Lake CA. My family and I had the privilege of staying at one of their cabins this past week and it was a wonderful experience! To start the location is perfect! It is only minutes from the village, and downtown area! If you are wanting to hit the slopes you can find a variety of rental shops within walking distance which is super helpful too. Lisa and the staff were second to none! Not only were they welcoming and beyond accommodating, but they made you feel like you were at home! Each day the maid service did an excellent job too. The cabin itself was just magical! It was warm and inviting and we loved the 'Tempur-Pedic' bed. The chair swing on the porch was the perfect spot to sip on some coffee and watch the day begin! The kitchen and bedroom were fully furnished and had everything you could want. Lastly the spa/jacuzzi inside was the perfect icing on the cake to an amazing stay. If all of that was not enough, the prices were not only lower than most places, frankly they give you so much bang for your buck! "“Calm, clean and relaxing”. Review posted May 2017. We were a party of 6 (2 families). We booked a cottage online that slept up to 10 persons. We had a full kitchen with all the amenities and a 10 seat farm table. It was two story historic cabin with a full bath down stairs. These cottages are 90 to 100 years old, but very well maintained. Up stairs there were two large bedrooms with 2 big beds, one queen and one king in each. Down stairs there were 2 recliners and a comfortable couch in the living room that folded out into another comfortable queen sized bed. The wood burning fireplace made everything very cozy. We also posted this review to be seen on Trip Advisor."

"We had a lovely time in historic cabin #27 for the second time. Loved the new Tempur-Pedic queen bed, flat screen TV and remodeled bathroom, all in keeping with your mountain cabin theme. What a beautiful retreat lodge you have for us urban folks who need some peace and relaxation. Thank you and see you again on our next trip to our favorite vacation getaway place in Big Bear Lake."

"I can say... that there is no other more relaxing and cozy vacation then this destination. Like, holy guacamole! The customer service is amazing. I believe the first person's name was Lisa??? She is so nice and sweet! We got an early check in. When We entered our cabin, we instantly fell in love with it! My son was very excited to have a hand made log bunk bed. My boyfriend and I felt that the full kitchen was amazing since we don't eat out (saved a lot of money that way). Everything was clean!!! Service came super fast. Also, they have a heated pool and spa and play area for the kids. Also game equipment for volleyball, basketball and horseshoes. Dawn helped us figure out which hiking trails that my 5 year old would enjoy. He told us about Castle Rock Trail, which my son liked. My favorite things about this place were that it was quiet, clean and cozy. :)"

"For years we have been having our big reunions all over the country we have never enjoyed a more serene and beautiful mountain location as Golden Bear Cottages. They have so many activities available to family members of all ages(and it is so close to home here in Southern California). "We just spent our 1st trip to Big Bear at this gem. We had a party of 14 - 16 guests between 2 cabins at Golden Bear Cottages. Everything you could need is provided in the cabins. We made use of the sand volleyball court, shuffle board, ping pong, horseshoe areas & the bbq grills. The maintenance was busy everyday making sure the resort was clean and the guests were happy. We loved it & plan on coming back again!!"

"Very friendly atmosphere, perfect for our family retreat. Clean, rustic mountainy cabins. We found the cabins to be very clean and well appointed with nice furniture and lots of room for our entire family. We took the large 'retreat' 7 bedroom cabin and several of the other smaller ones. There were cabins of exactly the right size for every family. The large cabin served as our main meeting area as it has a large industrial sized refrigerator, stove, and plenty of room to seat everyone for all meals. We really enjoyed the recreation room a lot, playing foosball, pool, and just sitting around and visiting while listening to music. The grounds are beautiful. We especially enjoyed the pool and the overall friendly atmosphere among the staff and other guests. This 5 STAR review was posted previously at Tripadvisor by ExecForKids1"

"Second visit was wonderful. We just returned yesterday from a week at Golden Bear Cottages. We took time to enjoy harmony with the nature and history that permeates every part of this rustic resort property. The owners were once again helpful in recommending the best things to see and do while all the time treating us special. We had a large three bedroom cabin this time since we traveled with extended family. It was very clean and well decorated with mountain charm. We especially enjoyed all the new TempurPedic beds they changed a couple months ago. Our vacation was memorable and we will certainly return again. Cabins all have BBQ's for outdoor cooking as well as fully stocked kitchens. Previously posted on Tripadvisor as a 5 STAR family review."
