"Russell A on Trip Advisor. ★★★★★. Another nice stay - The cabin was clean, the kitchen area was large, and had everything we needed for 3 nights stay. Yes, it's an historic place, but that is what we expected the first time, no regrets staying there again. The cabin was well insulated and cool. The only drawback is, while there was LOTS of room in cabin 21, there is only one bathroom. Next time we will book a three bedroom with 2 bathrooms and a Jacuzzi. Love the unusual historic age & style...Will stay there again."

"Me and my family love this place with all of the historic cabins. It offers a real charm. We will for sure be back because my children will make sure of it. We love all the family friendly spots available around the property especially badmitton and the park. We also love the new addition of the hamocks througout the property. The only thing i see room for improvment is the park area could use some older kids things to make it more friendly for them. We look forward to seeing you next trip. The Bullard family"

"This is our favorite resort when we go to Big Bear on a vacation! It's located in a nice forest area that's not too far from Big Bear Lake and still not far from the village area. Their staff is very welcoming and accommodating and truly cares about your stay. Even when something needs to be fixed, their maintenance would be there in no time to make sure you have a comfortable stay with less stress. Their rates are very reasonable for what you get! We had a good size cottage room that was sufficient for us. We even got a kitchen area with a fridge and sink and stove and microwave and toaster plus the main utensils, cups and plates you'd need PLUS there was even a Jacuzzi in the bathroom. Other things I like about the resort is that they have a big heated pool outside with a Jacuzzi and they also have a playground with a basketball court (for sports fans), swings and plenty of benches and chairs to sit on to enjoy fresh air and nature. If you do wind up using the pool, you will never run out of towels as they give you plenty for the cabin and will even ask you if you need more. More importantly, they are nice to their guests and are willing to go out of their way to make sure you enjoyed your vacation so you would come back again to your cabin in the woods. We went to Golden Bear Cottages as our honeymoon never really taken, and as a disabled couple, manager placed us in Honey Pot 5. Everything was just perfect. Staff was extremely accommodating. Upon our arrival two hours early, our cabin was waiting for us. We were greeted by a giant fireplace hearth, pleasantly surprised by a Jacuzzi side room right off a kitchen with all the amenities to cook a full meal, including salt and pepper shakers, coffee pot, sugar and creamer. Living room had comfy old couch and pull out futon, also had a rocker glider rocking chair, with main bedroom totally separate along with separate bathroom. More than enough linens and blankets for us both. While I must admit the cabin was old and rustic with a few cracks and crannies here and there, this is what we came for. To enjoy the tall wooded pine environment of Big Bear Lake, California. I give it five stars for the wonderful staff such as Lisa and Iris who jumped to satisfy our every request, helped us decide where to have our anniversary dinner and gave us other ideas as to where to eat and how to get to town etc. The fireplace was wonderful with wood reasonably priced on site and staff made sure to be there when you needed it. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner on the way out and are already planning our next trip this month in November and every year to celebrate our anniversary and re live our honeymoon as we go on in our retirement years. Can’t wait to get back to the peace and tranquility of our cabin called Honey Pot 5!"

"The McLeod Family on Expedia. ★★★★★11-20-19. I have been coming to golden bear cottages since I was a child and it’s amazing to now bring my children for a fun mountain vacation. I only live a short distance away from Big Bear, but go out of our way to book a Golden Bear cabin a couple times a year. Fun, relaxing, close enough to the village with a short drive and far enough away to avoid traffic/congestion. Only time my family and I stay elsewhere is if Golden Bear Cottages resort is full."

"Staying here at Golden Bear Cottages this winter with our dogs really made our 5th wedding anniversary such a great experience. We loved having a fire and cuddling with the whole family. Plus the yard in the back was great for fetch. Super close to Bear Mountain and Snow Summit which is a must for me and my husband who love to snowboard. Mehri D."

"Reviewed on Expedia. ★★★★★a few days ago. My wife and I stayed here during Memorial Day weekend in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The cottage is located in a convenient forest area which is a short drive to the lake. It is about a 20 minute walk to the entrance to the Castle Rock hiking trail. We had a studio cottage. It was cozy and okay for two people but we would book a larger cottage if we stay here again. The cottage had a decent sized charcoal bbq and outside bench and table. You have to supply your own charcoal. The studio was very clean but did not have a full kitchen. It had a mini fridge, toaster, coffee maker and microwave oven. They supply pots, pans and utensils. The studio also had a really nice fireplace. Note that you have to supply your own firewood which they sell or you can find in town. We were informed that because of city rules, they would not be offering maid service which was a bit of a bummer. I would recommend this property."

"Review of Golden Bear Cottages Resort on TripAdvisor. Via mobile. We had such a great time here! The staff was so friendly and helpful. The cabin was perfect! Very clean and it had everything we needed in the kitchen. The camp resort grounds were nicely kept with a great pool and spa. It was so easy to walk to the lake or drive to the village. We did both! Each took us less than 10 minutes. We started planning our next stay before we even left. It was perfect for a romantic little getaway, but we’ll be bringing the whole family next time. Thank you"

"'The cottages were located in a nice forested area with plenty of shade. Each cottage had its own name and cute architecture.The inside of our one bedroom cottage was nice with thoughtful decor and all of the basic amenities, although it was overall a bit rustic which is expected in a restored historic cabin built over 100 years ago. The couch was a bit uncomfortable but other than that I have no complaints. The TempurPedic bed was wonderful. I would definitely stay here again.' says Kim on Expedia"

Lisa and the staff are amazing people who have been able to help us through good times and tough times. When my dad was ill they provided us with quick accommodations. They genuinely care about their guests. We have years of great memories in the cabins of all sizes at Golden Bear. Now that my dad has passed we still visit and celebrate in honor of him as Golden Bear was his favorite place in Big Bear Lake. Thank you from the entire McIntyre family!"

Upgrades have been made, the website photos do not do these cottages justice. Rustic to a degree but I rented a mountain cabin so it should be! The staff were friendly and helpful. Convenient, yet quiet location. And wow, hot water that lasts through all of us showering. The grounds were kept clean. The cabin was clean. We had some cold weather come through so not able to enjoy the pool but I put my arm in and the pool is heated!! Will definitely stay there again when we come back."

"Expedia, Mar 28, 2021. Arizona guests - first time visitors: The cabin was in a historic area of big bear. The cabins (at Golden Bear Cottages Resort) were cozy and cute. We had a full kitchen & fireplace and it was clean and comfortable. Lisa the manager was very friendly and helpful. When we had an issue with the stove we had immediate response and help to light the pilot. We were given a lighter so we could light the fireplace too. The sleeping area was a loft upstairs, and the beds were very comfortable we will definitely come back again."

"Reviewed on Trip Advisor 10/7/21. Amazing Property! Awesome stay at The Golden Bear Cottages Resort with a group of 24. The cabins are dated from the early 1900, but good size and extremely clean and well kept. Couldn't have asked for more. The beds were comfortable (TemperPedic). Staff was super nice. They have many charcoal grills throughout the property so we grilled burgers one night. Will definitely stay at Golden Bear Cottages with our group again... Thank you"

They let us use it almost a whole year later with no difficulty. They even upgraded us. We felt like this was so kind of them. The cabin was great. It was homey and spacious. We even cooked a whole Thanksgiving dinner in the full kitchen in our cabin and had a friend from the area come and join us. We have now found our new spot to stay in Big Bear. The cabin was big with five bedrooms and had everything we needed also really warm. We did get the cabin vibe witch was cool. The employees and managers were great, & really respectful and outgoing. We didn’t really go to the pool obviously because it was 44 degrees outside but they do have a outdoor Jacuzzi and we had jacuzzi tubs in our cabin. I do recommend this place!"
