Pet Policy: Big Bear lake cabins for rent

Pets are allowed in designated Pet Friendly cabins ONLY.

The following rules are mandatory for a pet's stay:

1. The pet(s) is to be on leash at all times when outside cottage.

2. The pet(s) will be in a crate or a carrier if left unattended in cottage.

3. Golden Bear Cottages housekeepers will not enter a cottage to do'Maid

Service' if pet(s) are not in a crate or a carrier.

4. Clean up of pet grounds after pet is always required. No pets in pool area.

5. You are responsible for damages and/or extra cleaning caused by your pet.

6. A $100 cash deposit may be required, or we may charge your card for damages.

7. Each pet fee is $15 per day. NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE.

8. The pet(s) are not allowed on furniture. We have pet quilts and crates you may
check out in the office for a nominal rental fee as available.

In fact, no matter what type of lodging you're looking for, you can find many that welcome pet guests to stay for a LOW fee that costs, on average, $15-$25 per night. But Golden Bear Cottages resort guests pay only $15 per night. Compare that with keeping your four-legged family member at home with a pet sitter or at a boarding facility. That will cost you an average of $55/night for a pet sitter and $35/night for boarding.

Pet Friendly Hotels: Pet Hotel Etiquette & Helpful Tips

More and more pet parents are deciding to bring their pets along when they travel. For many, this means staying at this type of pet friendly accommodation. It's important to make sure that you and your pet are prepared. Following some simple tips will help to ensure that your vacation stay with your pet is an enjoyable one....and that you BOTH are welcomed back!

Pick the Right Cabin
It's recommended to book a room on the ground floor and by an exit. This will make it much easier for you to take your pet out for bathroom breaks.
Use Designated Potty Area
Upon check-in, ask the innkeeper or front desk personnel where the designated dog potty area is. Make sure you adhere to their rules of where to let your dog relieve himself. And of course, always bring along poop bags and clean-up after your pet.

Tucker them Out
Be sure to exercise your pet. Exercise helps relieves anxiety, thereby making for a more calm pet. Ask hotel personnel about the best places to walk or run your pet.

Treat the cabin rental with Respect
This means covering any furniture and beds that your pet may be allowed on. If the pet friendly accommodation does not allow pets on furniture, abide by their rules.

Litter Box Placement
If traveling with a cat, place their litter boxes in the bathroom. This will make clean-up much easier.

Leave them Alone?
Some pet friendly accommodations will allow you to leave your pet alone in your cabin, but our pet friendly cabins have fenced pet yards too. Our advice is not to leave your pet unattended unless absolutely necessary. Even the best behaved pets can bark and become destructive when in new surroundings. If you must leave your pet alone, be sure that it's for a very short time. Alert the front desk or innkeeper that your pet is alone in the room and try putting on the TV or a radio to make your pet more comfortable. If your pet travels with a crate or kennel, place them in it when leaving the cabin. In addition, place a note on your door indicating that your pet is inside.

Don't Leave any Pests Behind
Before leaving home be sure to give your pet a good cleaning and de-flea & de-tick them. This means a good flea and tick bath along with utilizing preventative flea and tick control. Leaving behind a stinky smell, or worse, fleas or ticks is the kind of thing that makes accommodations change their pet friendly policy. In addition, if a deposit is required, these types of things could very well prevent you from getting it back.

Accidents Happen
Even pets that have never had an "accident" indoors may do so under stress. Bring along a disinfectant as well as a rag in the event that you have to clean up after your pet. Not doing so could also cause a loss of deposit. Always inform front desk if your pet has an accident so they can follow up.

Keep them Leashed
To ensure that you're welcomed back, keep your pet on a leash and avoid taking them into pool areas or other restricted areas.

Big Bear Reservation Policies for Cabin Rentals at Golden Bear Cottages. Updated 1-1-21

NOTE: Check your confirmation. Cabin assigned and rates may differ with online booking services.

If you plan to bring pets, make sure to choose a designated cabin where pets are welcome. Standard pet fees will be applied.

DETAILS (1) Credit card will normally be charged 1/2 of stay, the full amount for a one night stay or reservations received close to check-in date. Our staff reserves the right to modify or upgrade cabins to fit number of guests or late over-bookings. (2) Guest check-in is AFTER 3 p.m., MAY BE LATER DURING HOLIDAY OR PEAK PERIODS. (3) Late check-in by prior arrangement. Balance is due before arrival. (4) Check out is by 11 a.m. (5) Regular Pet Fee is $15 per day per pet. A "Pet Penalty" will be charged for pets kept inside NON-PET FRIENDLY cabins. (6) A cleaning fee will be added to third party bookings. (7)Cancellations may be made by phone, but will not be accepted unless confirmed in writing. (8) Cancellations over 60 days from check-in (90 days Holiday and High Season) will receive a date change without penalty or a refund minus a re-booking fee. (9) Cancellations less than 60 days prior to arrival may receive a date change minus a per day re-booking fee, but not a refund. Deposits will be forfeited if cabins that are cancelled are not re-booked. Note: long-term rentals and group rentals are not cancellable unless completely re-rented. A cancellation fee will be applied. (10) Qualifying discounts are given in advance including: AAA, Military, Law Enforcement and Gift Cards. Please request discount at the time reservation is made. Discounts will not be deducted after check-in. (11) A security deposit may be assessed to group reservations or other reservations deemed by the management to be of higher risk. Damages to cabins by occupying party or their guests will be charged to credit card(s) on file, copies of which are taken upon arrival. These cards will be used as protection for damages or incidentals. The guest is fully responsible for damages. A fee to cover possible damages to cabins may be charged for large cabins and groups. Non-refundable resort cleaning fee ($25 for small or medium cabins, $50 for larger cabins, or $75 for retreat cabins) is charged to each cabin booking.

(12) No refunds will be issued due to inclement weather. NO REFUNDS will be given for early departures by occupying party.
